Derrick Jackson

Candidate for Lieutenant Governor

Derrick is a 22-year military officer veteran (U.S. Navy), corporate general manager, Adjunct Professor, entrepreneur, non-profit Board Member, and a leader in the community that is known for his determination, enthusiasm, keen work ethics, integrity, and a strong commitment to serve his constituents.

Derrick also has strong business acumen. For instance, during his nearly 7-year tenure in General Electric (GE) as the Senior Marketing Manager for the Industrial Growth Vertical & Business Development, he was influential in identifying $1B global market opportunities and managing global strategic partnerships.

Derrick was born-to-serve and has no problem rolling-up-the-sleeves and work hard to improve the quality-of-life (QOL) in District 64 and across Georgia.

He has been and continues to be recognized for his inspiring community leadership and received awards: Fayette County Citizen of the Year in 2013 by Theta Lambda Lambda Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.; and 2019 Civil Servant of the Year RICE Award. Additionally, he is awarded the 2019 Georgia House Democratic Caucus (GHDC) Chairman’s Award for his Leadership and recognized as Atlanta Business Journal’s 2019 Top 25 Extraordinary Atlantans.

Additionally, there is no idle time for this public servant, especially with the desire to learn more while currently enrolled in Walden University’s Ph.D. program for Public Policy & Administration. He was inducted into the Golden Key International Honor Society and Pi Alpha Alpha Honor Society for Public Affairs and Administration.

Derrick Jackson is married to CaMia Hopson, State Representative of District 153, and their family consists of seven (7) amazing young adults and one grandson.

Lastly, Derrick is a life member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., a silver-life member of NAACP, a proud member of Elizabeth Baptist Church, and serves on several non-profit organization boards.
